Role Description
The On Shift Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Stoke-on-Trent Area. This role supports the day-to-day operational management of children’s homes and supported accommodation services, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people. - Supervising and guiding support staff during shifts
- Managing daily routines
- Overseeing care plans
- Ensuring that safeguarding procedures are consistently applied
- Coordinating shift handovers

- Maintaining accurate records in line with regulatory requirements

The role also involves working closely with young people to promote independence, emotional well-being, and positive outcomes, while collaborating with external professionals, families, and internal leadership to maintain high-quality care standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in residential childcare, supported accommodation, or related social care settings, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory standards (e.g., Ofsted).
- Proven ability to lead, supervise, and support staff on shift, including managing routines, delegating tasks, and providing clear guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people, colleagues, families, and external professionals.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain calm, make decisions, and respond effectively to challenging situations or crises.
- Competence in maintaining accurate documentation, care plans, incident reports, and other records in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Relevant qualification in health and social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or above), or willingness to work towards an equivalent qualification.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, as required by the needs of the service.
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice, person-centered care, and promoting the rights, voice, and independence of children and young people.
