Location: HMP Liverpool, L9 3DF
Salary: £30,866 – £36,135 + 15% shift allowance
Hours: 39 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Sat–Thurs 07:45–16:45 | Fri 07:45–15:45
Occasional Work: 1 in 4 weekends (on rota, allowance paid)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Electrician to join the team at HMP Liverpool—this is a steady, long-term role focusing on a single site.
Key responsibilities will involve conducting maintenance and repairs across the prison estate, ensuring electrical systems are safe, functional, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Identifying, fault-finding, and restoring faults
- Performing like-for-like replacements and minor works
- Conducting testing and inspections in line with BS7671 standards
- Maintaining strong health and safety compliance
- Collaborating within a site-based team in a secure facility

Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Level 2 Electrical Installation
- Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) qualification (or 17th Edition with commitment to upgrade)
- Clearly demonstrable experience in maintenance, facilities management (FM), or building services
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and showcase initiative
- Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Willingness to undertake prison clearances (support provided)
Desirable
- Fire alarm, CCTV, or automation systems experience
