Onboarding & Pre-Sales Engineer

Good, we're building something big in the UK & Ireland – and we're looking for a technically driven Onboarding & Pre-Sales Engineer to help deliver world-class telematics solutions for customers across the UK & Ireland.

About Teltonika

Teltonika is a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT), with over 25 years of innovation, operations in 27+ countries, and more than 2,500 employees worldwide.

Following the launch of our UK operation in 2024, we're continuing to invest heavily in our Telematics business. This newly created role will play a key part in supporting continued growth, working closely with customers, partners and our commercial team to deliver outstanding technical solutions from pre-sales through to deployment and long-term support.

Location: Suite G 2.1, Building 8, Exchange Quay, M5 3EJ, Salford, Greater Manchester, UK

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical onboarding of new customers from initial setup through to successful go-live.
  • Deliver customer training on:
    • Teltonika hardware
    • Software platforms
    • Reporting tools
  • Produce clear onboarding materials, including:
    • Onboarding documentation
    • User guides
    • Configuration summaries
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact throughout the onboarding process.
  • Design and recommend telematics solutions that meet customer operational and commercial requirements.
  • Support Business Development Managers by:
    • Providing technical expertise
    • Delivering solution demonstrations
    • Facilitating proof-of-concept activities
  • Install, configure, and commission Teltonika telematics devices for:
    • Various vehicle types
    • Different customer environments
  • Conduct site surveys, hardware testing, and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Manage and maintain a stock of:
    • Field equipment
    • Tools
    • Spare units across Teltonika product ranges
  • Provide remote technical support, troubleshooting issues related to:
    • Hardware
    • Connectivity
    • Software
  • Assist customers with integrating Teltonika solutions into:
    • Third-party platforms
    • Fleet management systems
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to:
    • Test new configurations
    • Improve customer solutions
    • Share technical knowledge
  • Maintain updated technical documentation, including:
    • Installation records
    • Support logs
  • Represent Teltonika professionally during:
    • Customer visits
    • Technical meetings
    • Project delivery

Requirements and Qualifications

Must-Have Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing technical support, field engineering, installation, or pre-sales engineering role.
  • Strong solution design experience with a track record of providing technical solution advice in sales or pre-sales.
  • Hands-on experience in:
    • Installing and configuring hardware
    • Low-voltage vehicle wiring
  • Experience with:
    • Telematics
    • GPS tracking systems
    • Similar vehicle technologies
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to:
    • Technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues independently:
    • Remotely
    • On-site
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites throughout UK&I

Advantageous Experience and Qualifications:

  • Specialised knowledge of:
    • Telematics & GPS Tracking
    • Fleet Management Solutions
  • Familiarity with:
    • IoT (Internet of Things)
    • Vehicle Electronics
  • Technical experience with:
    • CAN Bus
    • OBDII
    • RS232 / RS485
  • API Integrations
  • Industrial Networking
  • LTE / 4G / 5G Connectivity
  • VPN, VLAN, and Firewall Configuration
  • Knowledge of Teltonika products:
    • Telematics: FMB, FMC, TAT Series
    • Networks: RUT, RUTX, TRB Series
    • RMS (Remote Management System)
  • Qualifications:
    • CCNA
    • HNC/HND
    • City & Guilds or equivalent technical education
