Job Description
Role Overview
Co-ordinate a team to ensure the delivery of effective nursing care to patients and their families reflecting the UHD Values
Responsibilities
- Deputize for the Ward Manager as and when required.
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision.
- Provides clinical and managerial leadership to healthcare support and reception staff.
- Assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the Nursing Team.
- Act as an effective role model for all staff.
- Deliver specialised care in keeping with the needs and wishes of patients and their families.
- Provide leadership and demonstrate a high quality of clinical care and practice.
- Liaise with other health care professionals regarding the needs of patients and implement appropriate action.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records in accordance with current practice.
- Monitor and organise Bookwise and authorise room bookings for the jigsaw.
- Facilitate effective patient care in the outpatient setting.
- Assist in the setting of clinical standards within the UHD trust to improve the quality of patient care.
- Actively participate in clinical governance agenda and use this as a base for improving standards of care.
- To actively facilitate a progressive learning environment for all grades of staff which will raise standards of professionalism and contribute to the development of nursing.
- To ensure that IT training and use of different programmes is accessed safely in accordance with clinical governance.
- Reporting all complaints and untoward occurrences.
- Be aware of and comply with NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurse, Midwives & Health Visitors.
