One Stop - Customer Service Assistant
Customer Service Assistant – Tesco One Stop
About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will play an essential role in the day-to-day operations of our store while delivering exceptional customer service, stocking shelves, processing payments, and ensuring a welcoming store environment.
With the customer at the heart of what we do, you’ll be constantly seeking ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching, feedback, and proactive engagement. Your leadership will help maintain a safe, inclusive, and efficient shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Engagement
- Know your customers and serve them with passion and pride, providing natural, high-quality service.
- Actively encourage customers to provide feedback by completing "Have Your Say" surveys.
- Engage across all store areas, including online fulfillment, tills, replenishment, vending, and stock routines, to meet customer needs.
Operational Excellence
- Apply fire-safety and security training to ensure all aspects of work are carried out safely.
- Contribute to seasonal, community, and charity events, fostering an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere.
- Understand the store’s performance metrics and your role in driving profitability.
Leadership & Safety
- Always live by One Stop’s values, making every customer and colleague feel welcomed and respected.
- Clock in and out accurately to ensure correct payroll.
- Follow security procedures and wear safety equipment where required to protect staff and customers.
- Adhere to the "think 25 policy" when serving age-restricted products.
- Respond quickly to self-service checkout issues, explaining actions transparently.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
