Customer Service Assistant – One Stop (Tesco)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Customer Service Assistant to join our dynamic team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. In this fast-paced retail environment, no two days are ever the same.

You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth store operations by delivering excellent customer service, stocking shelves, processing transactions, and maintaining a welcoming store appearance. Central to our ethos is placing the customer at the heart of everything we do—you’ll continuously seek ways to improve service through coaching, feedback, and fostering a safe atmosphere for both shoppers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Focus

  • Provide ** friendly, personalised service** with pride and passion, getting to know your customers.
  • Actively encourage customers to share feedback via the "Have Your Say" survey.
  • Deliver a positive shopping experience across all store areas, including tills, online operations, replenishment, vending, and stock management.

Operations & Safety

  • Apply safety training to ensure all tasks are completed follow legal and security protocols.
  • Participate in seasonal, local, and charity events to create an inclusive and engaging atmosphere.
  • Maintain awareness of store performance and actively contribute to meeting sales targets and efficiency.

Policy & Compliance

  • Always follow One Stop’s policies, including clocking in/out to ensure accurate pay.
  • Implement the ‘Think 25’ policy for age-restricted products at the point of sale.
  • Respond promptly to self-service checkout issues, ensuring clarity and security for customers.

Organisation & Accountability

  • Keep store aisles clean, tidy, and free of congestion.
  • May need to lead shifts in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
  • Adhere to ongoing training to uphold safety and legal compliance.

Additional Duties

(If applicable in your store)

  • Manage full Post Office operations (requires disclosure of financial and criminal records; failure of checks may result in offer withdrawal).
