Customer Service Assistant – Join One Stop, a Tesco Subsidiary

About the Role

We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco.

As a Customer Service Assistant, you will thrive in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same, playing a critical role in ensuring seamless store operations and exceptional customer experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Stocking shelves
  • Processing payments
  • Maintaining store appearance
  • Enhancing service excellence through on-the-job coaching and feedback

With your focus on the customer at all times, you’ll help creates a safe, welcoming environment for both staff and shoppers.


Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for in your role as our Customer Service Assistant:

  • Customer Focus: Know your customers and serve them with passion and pride, delivering natural and outstanding service.
  • Feedback Encouragement: Actively encourage customers to share their shopping experiences by engaging with the ‘Have Your Say’ survey.
  • Versatile Support: Work across all store areas including online operations, tills, replenishment, vending, and stock routines to meet customer needs.
  • Safety First: Follow safety protocols and utilise provided safety equipment to ensure a risk-free environment.
  • Community Participation: Participate in seasonal, charity and community events, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Store Awareness: Have knowledge about your store’s performance and understand how your role supports long-term profitability.
  • Core Values Alignment: Be your authentic self while living our values, ensuring all colleagues and customers feel welcoming and valued.
  • Shift Accountability: Ensure accurate clocking in/out to maintain fair time and wage records.
  • Security Adherence: Uphold security procedures, protecting both your colleagues and customers.
  • Age-Key Policy: Strictly follow the ‘think 25 policy’ when handling age-restricted products.
  • Checkout Support: Quickly respond to assistance requests on self-service checkouts, explaining actions to customers.
  • Cleanliness Standards: Maintain a clear, clean and tidy store, ensuring congested aisles remain obstacle-free.
  • Shift Responsibilities: On occasion, manage the shift in the absence of the Store Manager or Shift Leader.
  • Compliance & Training: Continuously develop and apply learned skills to ensure safety, legality, and operational excellence for you, your colleagues, and the store.

  • Undergoing a Post Office Financial and criminal conviction check as part of the recruitment process.
