One Stop - Customer Service Assistant
Job Title: Customer Service Assistant (One Stop – Tesco subsidiary)
About the Role
We’re seeking a Customer Service Assistant to join One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, in a fast-paced retail environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities.
As a key member of the team, you’ll:
- Deliver exceptional customer service with passion and pride.
- Contribute to day-to-day store operations, including stocking shelves, processing payments, and maintaining store presentation.
- Play a proactive role in improving customer experience through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
- Ensure the store remains a safe, welcoming environment for both shoppers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Customer & Service Excellence
- Know your customers inside out and provide natural, friendly service.
- Encourage feedback via the ‘Have Your Say’ survey to continuously improve.
- Tailor your service across all store areas—tills, online orders, replenishment, vending, and stock routines—to meet customer needs.
- Champion community and seasonal events, fostering inclusivity and social engagement.
Safety, Compliance & Teamwork
- Follow health and safety policies, complete training, and wear required protective equipment.
- Adhere to the ‘Think 25’ policy when serving age-restricted products.
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout interventions, explaining actions clearly to customers.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and congestion-free store environment.
- Clock in/out accurately to ensure fair pay for worked hours.

Operational & Leadership Support
- Assess your store’s performance metrics and understand your role in driving profitability.
- Live the One Stop values—be authentic, inclusive, and policy-compliant at all times.
- Take on shift leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Prioritise compliance training to ensure safety and legality for yourself, colleagues, and the store.
- Note: If your store includes a Post Office Local, you’ll handle day-to-day operations. This requires passing a financial background check and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Failure to pass these checks will result in a withdrawal of the job offer.
