About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. Working in a fast-paced retail environment, no day will be the same.
In this role, you’ll play a vital role in daily operations by:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Stocking shelves
- Processing payments
- Maintaining the store’s tidy appearance
With the customer at the heart of everything, you’ll constantly look for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching, feedback, and a collaborative spirit. Guiding your team ensures that a safe and welcoming environment exists for both colleagues and shoppers.
Key Responsibilities

Customer-focused service: Knowing your customers and delivering it with passion and pride.

Feedback encouragement: Actively promoting customer feedback via the ‘Have Your Say’ survey.

Multifunctional support: Working across:
- Online operations
- Tills
- Replenishment
- Vending machines
- Stock management

Safety first: Applying received safety training to uphold a secure working environment.

Community involvement: Participating in seasonal, charity, and community events—creating an inclusive atmosphere.

Financial awareness: Understanding store performance and how your role contributes to profit generation.

Time management: Properly clocking in/out to ensure accurate pay and commitment to shift hours.

Customer safety standards: Upholding security protocols and wearing required safety equipment (where available).

Age-restricted products: Adhering strictly to the ‘think 25’ policy when serving products to under-25s.

Problem resolution: Promptly responding to self-service checkout assistance calls to reassure customers.

Store maintenance: Ensuring the store remains clean, tidy, and free from congestion.

Shift coverage: Taking over the duty of running shifts during the line manager’s/manager’s absence.

Compliance: Continuously following all safety, operational, and legal training to protect yourself, colleagues, and store.
Note for Post Office Local stores: If included in your duties, daily post office operations will require successful completion of a financial and criminal conviction background check process. Failure of these checks may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.
