About the Role
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Customer Service Assistant to join our dynamic team at One Stop, a trusted neighbourhood store offering value, quality, and exceptional service. In this fast-paced environment, your role will be pivotal: you’ll deliver outstanding customer service while contributing to the smooth daily operations of our store.

You’ll:
- Serve customers with confidence, pride, and natural enthusiasm.
- Work across all store areas, including tills, replenishment, online support, and stock routines, to ensure seamless service.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised store environment.
- Engage with seasonal and community events to foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere.
- Know your store’s performance metrics and collaborate to drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Your role is diverse and packed with opportunity. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

Customer Service Excellence:
- Provide friendly, professional service rooted in passion and pride.
- Encourage customers to share feedback via our ‘Have Your Say’ survey.
- Apply on-the-job coaching and store-specific guidance to continuously improve service.

Store Operations:
- Work across all store functions—tills, online, replenishment, vending, and stock routines—to meet customer needs and store goals.
- Safely and efficiently follow calculated procedures to stock shelves, manage payments, and maintain a tidy, congestion-free retail space.
- Adhere to security protocols, wearing required safety equipment as needed.

Cellular and Seasonal Commitments:
- Represent the store in community and charity events—think organising raffles, supporting local causes, or participating in team challenges like running marathons.
- Actively promote our values while employing flexibility and critical thinking to resolve customer issues.
- Comply with shop policies—clocking in/out accurately and fulfilling age restriction compliance (think 25 policy).

Store Leadership:
- Assist with shift running in the absence of the Store Manager or Shift Leader.
- Attend training sessions to maintain workplace safety, operational excellence, and a welcoming retail experience.

Post Office Roles (if applicable):
- If your One Stop location includes a Post Office Local, you’ll undertake day-to-day operations, including financial handling and criminal records checks.
- Failure to pass necessary background checks may result in withdrawal of the job offer.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
- Genuine passion for delivering a positive customer experience—ideally within the retail or hospitality sector.
- Customer-driven mindset with the ability to quickly adapt to new tasks and priorities.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent clocking-in behaviour.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organised environment for both staff and customers.
- Confidence in basic financial transactions (cash handling, payment processing) and statistical/listing familiarity.
- Strong ability to follow instructions while demonstrating initiative.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in retail, customer-facing roles, or cash-handling positions.
- Familiarity with queueing or checkout procedures or technological assistance will be beneficial.
