Customer Service Assistant – One Stop (Subsidiary of Tesco)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our dynamic team at One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary. In a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same, this role is central to ensuring a seamless customer experience, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment.
As a vital part of the store team, you will:
- Deliver exceptional customer service with passion and pride
- Stock shelves, process payments, and uphold store appearance
- Drive continuous improvement through on-the-job coaching and feedback
- Support a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued
The customer is at the heart of this role, and your insights will shape a positive shopping experience everyday.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Get to know your customers and provide natural, high-quality service
- Encourage feedback by promoting the "Have Your Say" surveys
- Work across all store functions—online systems, tills, restocking, vending, and stock routines—to meet customer needs efficiently
Operational & Safety Commitments
- Apply received training to ensure safe working practices
- Participate in seasonal, community, and charity events to foster inclusivity
- Be knowledgeable about store performance and how your contributions impact profit
- Align with One Stop values, ensuring everyone feels welcome and policies are followed
- Accurate timekeeping—clock in/out to ensure fair pay for worked hours

Security & Compliance Protocols
- Uphold security procedures and wear required safety equipment
- Follow the Think 25 policy when serving age-restricted products
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout assistance calls, explaining actions to customers
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised store (e.g., clear aisles)
Shift & Emergency Cover
- May take responsibility for running the shift in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager
- Regularly update training to maintain legal compliance, safety, and operational standards
Additional Responsibilities (If Applicable)
If your store operates a Post Office Local, you will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day operations
- Completing Post Office’s financial and criminal record checks (withdrawal of offer if unsuccessful).
