Customer Service Assistant Role
About the Role
We’re seeking a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. In this dynamic retail environment, no two days will be the same.
You’ll play a pivotal role in daily store operations by:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Stocking shelves efficiently
- Processing payments
- Maintaining a welcoming store appearance
With the customer at the heart of everything, you’ll continuously seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching, feedback, and collaborative solutions. Your guidance will ensure a safe environment for both customers and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Customer Engagement
- Deliver passionate, genuine service to know your customers and anticipate their needs.
- Actively encourage customers to share feedback via our "Have Your Say" survey.
- Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere while embodying our core values.
Store Operations
- Work across multiple store areas, including:
- Self-service and tills
- Replenishment and stock routines
- Online orders (where applicable)
- Vending machines (if applicable)
- Apply health and safety training to ensure a secure working environment.
Specific Duties
- Participate in seasonal, community, and charity events to strengthen local engagement.
- Track store performance metrics and contribute to profitable operations through teamwork.
- Clock in/out accurately to ensure fair wage calculation.

Safety & Legal Compliance
- Follow security protocols and wear required safety equipment.
- Adhere to NFC (National Fraud Initiative) policies, e.g., the "Think 25" rule for age-restricted products.
- Respond to customer assistance calls at self-service checkouts with clarity.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and congestion-free store layout.
- Conduct shift duties temporarily when the Shift Leader or Store Manager is absent.
Requirements
- Passionate about excellent customer service and teamwork.
- Ability to work flexibly across different roles (stocking, tills, events).
- Compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and legal training.
- Commitment to continuous learning through in-store training.
- Minimum 18 years of age (additional financial/criminal background check required if handling Post Office duties*).
