About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of our store by:
- Providing excellent customer service

- Helping maintain the store’s appearance
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities:
- Know and understand your customers, serving them with passion and pride, delivering great natural service.
- Actively encourage customers to provide feedback on their shopping trip via the ‘Have Your Say’ survey.
- Work across all store areas, including online services, tills, replenishment, vending, and stock routines to meet customer needs.
- Comply with safety training and ensure all work is completed safely.
- Participate in seasonal, community, and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
- Stay informed about the store’s performance, understanding your role and how to support profit goals.
- Represent the company’s values, ensuring a welcoming environment while following policies.
- Ensure accurate timekeeping by clocking in and out for each shift.
- Maintain the safety of yourself, colleagues, and customers by following security procedures, including wearing safety equipment where necessary.
- Adhere to the Think 25+ policy when dealing with age-restricted products.
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout assistance calls, explaining actions to customers.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised working environment with clear aisles.
- Occasionally take responsibility for shifts in the temporary absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Follow all safety and legal training to ensure ongoing compliance for the store, colleagues, and yourself.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
