One Stop - Customer Service Assistant

Customer Service Assistant – One Stop

About the Role

We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.

You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our store by:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Stocking shelves
  • Processing payments
  • Helping maintain the store’s presentation

Being customer-focused, you will constantly seek opportunities to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.

With your support, your store will always remain safe for both customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride, providing natural, exceptional service.
  • Encouraging customer feedback by promoting the "Have Your Say" survey before and during each shopping trip.
  • Operating across multiple store areas, including:
    • Tills
    • Replenishment
    • Vending machines
    • Stock routines
    • Online assistance to meet customer needs.
  • Applying safety training to ensure a secure working environment for you, colleagues, and customers.
  • Participating in seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Understanding the store’s performance, recognising your contribution to profitability, and fostering teamwork.
  • Embracing One Stop’s core values while maintaining a positive, welcoming atmosphere and ensuring adherence to store policies.
  • Accurately clocking in/out to facilitate correct payroll.
  • Ensuring safety procedures are followed, including:
    • Wearing safety equipment (where applicable).
    • Risk-minimising through the "Think 25" policy (serving age-restricted products responsibly).
    • Assisting customers at self-service checkouts efficiently and clearly explaining procedures as needed.
    • Maintaining a clean, organised, and congestion-free store environment.
  • Potentially managing shift roles in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
  • Complying with training to guarantee personal, colleague, and store safety, alongside legal compliance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

If your store includes a Post Office Local, additional duties will include:

  • Managing day-to-day operations (e.g., post, transactions, and accounts).
  • Requiring a passing grade on both the Post Office’s Financial and Criminal Conviction Background check. If these checks fail, the job offer may be withdrawn.
