Customer Service Assistant – One Stop
About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our store by:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Stocking shelves
- Processing payments
- Helping maintain the store’s presentation
Being customer-focused, you will constantly seek opportunities to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
With your support, your store will always remain safe for both customers and colleagues.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride, providing natural, exceptional service.
- Encouraging customer feedback by promoting the "Have Your Say" survey before and during each shopping trip.
- Operating across multiple store areas, including:
- Tills
- Replenishment
- Vending machines
- Stock routines
- Online assistance to meet customer needs.
- Applying safety training to ensure a secure working environment for you, colleagues, and customers.
- Participating in seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
- Understanding the store’s performance, recognising your contribution to profitability, and fostering teamwork.
- Embracing One Stop’s core values while maintaining a positive, welcoming atmosphere and ensuring adherence to store policies.
- Accurately clocking in/out to facilitate correct payroll.
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed, including:
- Wearing safety equipment (where applicable).
- Risk-minimising through the "Think 25" policy (serving age-restricted products responsibly).
- Assisting customers at self-service checkouts efficiently and clearly explaining procedures as needed.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and congestion-free store environment.
- Potentially managing shift roles in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Complying with training to guarantee personal, colleague, and store safety, alongside legal compliance.

If your store includes a Post Office Local, additional duties will include:
- Managing day-to-day operations (e.g., post, transactions, and accounts).
- Requiring a passing grade on both the Post Office’s Financial and Criminal Conviction Background check. If these checks fail, the job offer may be withdrawn.
