Customer Service Assistant – One Stop (Tesco Subsidiary)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary. Thriving in a fast-paced retail environment, no day remains the same, and every contribution makes a difference.

You’ll play a key role in day-to-day store operations, delivering exceptional customer service, stocking shelves, processing payments, and maintaining a clean and pleasant shopping experience.

As we prioritise an exceptional customer experience, you’ll:

  • Continuously seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure the store remains a safe, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Customer Service & Engagement

  • Know your customers well, serving them with passion and pride, and offering natural, friendly assistance.
  • Encourage customers to share feedback via the "Have Your Say" surveys.

Store Operations

  • Provide support across all store operations, including:
    • Online orders and fulfilment
    • Till operations
    • Replenishment and stock routines
    • Vending and customer assistance
  • Follow training protocols to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Seasonal & Community Support

  • Engage in seasonal events, community initiatives, and charity activities, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Understand store performance and contribute to profit delivery by meeting customer needs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Clock in/out accurately to ensure fair pay.
  • Adhere to security procedures and safety equipment guidelines.
  • Implement the Think 25 policy when serving age-restricted products.
  • Respond promptly to self-service checkout interventions, explaining actions to customers.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and organised store, keeping aisles clear.

Store Management Contingencies

  • May be required to run the shift in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.

Training & Legal Compliance

  • Follow mandatory training to ensure safety, legal compliance, and smooth operations.
  • If your store operates a Post Office Local, additional responsibilities include:
    • Handling Post Office financial operations.
    • Passing a financial background and criminal conviction check. *(Note: If these checks fail, the role offer may be withdrawn.)
