About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of our store activities by providing excellent customer service, stocking shelves, processing payments, and helping maintain the store’s appearance.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on-the-job coaching and feedback. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
Customer Service and Engagement
- Understand your customers and serve them with passion and pride, providing great natural service.
- Actively encourage customers to give feedback on their shopping trip by completing the "Have Your Say" survey.
- Engage across all areas of the store, including:
- Online support
- Tills and checkouts
- Replenishment
- Vending machines
- Stock routines
- Ensuring tasks are completed to meet the needs of our customers.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all training received to ensure safe working practices for yourself, colleagues, and the store.
- Comply with security procedures and wear necessary safety equipment.
- Adhere to the "think 25" policy for serving age-restricted products.
- Respond quickly to assistance calls or interventions at self-service checkouts, explaining actions to customers.

Store Operations
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised store with clear aisles.
- Manage tasks efficiently during peak times, including handling shift responsibilities if required in the absence of a Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Ensure accurate clocking in/out to guarantee correct payment for hours worked.
- Keep the store and its surrounding areas tidy and free of obstructions.
Special Duties (if applicable) If your One Stop store operating a Post Office Local, you will also be responsible for:
- Day-to-day management of post office operations.
- Completing a Post Office Financial and criminal conviction background check (a prerequisite before joining). -Note: Failure to pass these checks may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.
