One Stop - Shift Leader
Shift Leader – Diamond Stores Ltd eastanglia
As a Shift Leader, your primary role is to ensure the smooth operation of the store by coordinating the team to deliver an excellent shopping experience for our customers while maintaining internal processes, ensuring staff well-being, and managing store operations efficiently.
About the Role
You will be responsible for overseeing daily store operations, supporting the Store Manager in maintaining high standards, and acting as the key point of contact for both customers and colleagues. Your role demands a customer-focused, proactive, and organised mindset, along with the ability to lead, resolve issues, and drive operational efficiency.
- Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest, most fulfilling shopping experience in the community.
- Open and close the store, ensuring all systems are secure and operations run smoothly.
- Take charge of day-to-day operational queries in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Support the Store Manager in organising seasonal, community, and charity events to enhance the store’s inclusive atmosphere.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-presented store, reflecting our commitment to excellence.
Main Responsibilities
Customer & Retail Operations
- Prioritise the replenishment of key products, ensuring stock levels meet customer demand.
- Ensure point-of-sale (POS) and shelf-edge labels are accurate and reflect best practices.
- Act immediately on any overcharges, taking corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Proactively manage in-store queues to deliver a superior shopping experience.
- Balance customer service with the replenishment and operational needs of the store.
Staff Management & Development
- Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities, ensuring breaks are timed correctly according to trading patterns.
- Ensure the store is appropriately staffed, managing short-term absences and sickness cover efficiently.
- Conduct return-to-work interviews for colleagues under the One Stop Absence Policy.
- Be a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security.
- Monitor and act on internal communications, keeping colleagues informed of updates and changes.
- Recognise and celebrate colleague contributions, fostering a positive and motivated team.
Operational Excellence
- Act as the primary point of contact for colleagues regarding day-to-day operational queries.
- Assess and identify obstacles that may hinder a positive experience, taking action to remove them.
- Collaborate with Area Manager and People Partner, reporting issues and seeking support as needed.
- Continuously look for ways to simplify operations and improve service quality.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, enforcing best practices with the team.
Customer First Mentality
- Always put the customer first, tailoring service to meet individual needs.
- Resolve customer queries promptly, ensuring a friendly and satisfactory experience.
- Ensure every interaction leaves the customer with a positive impression.
