# Shift Leader – My Role at One Stop
About the Role
As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for leading the team to deliver the easiest and most pleasant shopping experience in the community. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth store operations, exceptional customer service, and strong team cohesion when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating team performance to deliver an outstanding shopping experience
- Lead store operations, ensuring smooth opening/closing and duty coverage
- Be the primary contact for colleagues on day-to-day operational queries
- Customer and store excellence
- Prioritise product replenishment based on customer needs
- Maintain store cleanliness, organisation, and presentation
- Keep Point of Sale (POS) labels and shelf displays aligned with standards
- Resolve overcharges immediately and prevent future occurrences
- Proactively manage queues to enhance efficiency
- Team and safety leadership
- Balance colleagues’ breaks around trading patterns
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
- Coordinate seasonal/community/charity events with the Store Manager
- Organise shift coverage for unexpected absences or sickness
- Communication & problem-solving
- Ensure clear, timely communication across the team
- Implement operational improvements and share ideas with management
- Proactively resolve customer queries with a smile
- Customise service to meet individual customer needs
- Celebrate exceptional team contributions
- Address colleague concerns (or escalate when necessary)
- Operational assistance
- Support Store Manager in managing absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and following absence policies
- Balance workload between service areas and replenishment
- Monitor internal communications and ensure timely actions
- Act as a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs when required
- Build strong relationships with Area Manager and People Partner for escalation support
