About the Role
We’re now looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you’ll work in a fast-paced retail environment where no two days are the same.
You’ll take ownership of store activities, coordinating a team to deliver a pristine, full store that exceeds customer expectations. Specialising in practical store improvements, you’ll ensure a safe, welcoming shopping and working environment.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coordinating the team to create the easiest shopping experience for customers
- Opening/closing the store and ensuring duty cover is run efficiently, with decisions focused on customer, colleague, and safety needs

- Supporting seasonal, community, and charity events while fostering an inclusive atmosphere
- Maintaining the store’s cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation
- Prioritising customer-focused replenishment and accurate product labelling

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
