Store Manager – One Stop
About the Role
We’re seeking a Store Manager to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Store Manager, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced retail environment where variety is the name of the game.
Your role will involve ensuring efficiency, profitability, and exceptional customer service—always prioritising the customer while fostering a positive, safe shopping and working environment for your team.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Culture
- Lead and manage a team of Shift Leaders and colleagues, ensuring effective one-on-one attention both on and off shifts.
- Foster a personal connection with every colleague, understanding their concerns and feelings through proactive communication.
- Develop a colleague-focused culture where employee experience is central to daily operations, actively listening and enabling growth.
- Act as a self-serve role model, leveraging tools and processes to resolve queries and encourage the same approach in your team.
- Ia committed to getting foundational activities right the first time:
- Train all colleagues effectively.
- Ensure a warm welcome to One Stop.
- Maintain compliance across all payroll, health & safety, and employment policies.
- Equip colleagues with the tools and support they need to succeed.
- Continuously assess team skill continuity to remain future-ready.
- Oversee absence management and performance-related solutions, addressing problems promptly.
- Regularly recognise and celebrate team contributions, fostering motivation and morale.
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Balance internal talent development with external recruiting efforts to build a diverse, inclusive, and capable team.
- Understand labour needs to shape staffing decisions, ensuring talent pipelines reflect the community demographics.

Operational Excellence & Service
- Monitor and improve KPIs performance across the store to drive growth and profitability.
- Share insights with local Store Managers to stimulate best practice and strategic advancements.
- Daily coaching of colleagues to ensure high retail standards and exceptional customer interactions.
- Monitor local competitor activity to identify threats/opportunities, then translate insights into actionable strategies.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Lead a robust health and safety culture, striving to eliminate preventable incidents, accidents, and audit failures.
- Assume responsibility for the daily safety of both customers and colleagues.
Product & Service Responsibilities
- Oversee all service operations in the store, including:
- Post Office Local
- EvRi (payment services)
- Vending machines
- Implement business changes smoothly to adapt to dynamic market needs.
- Operate within labour budget constraints while ensuring compliance and secure operations.
Sales & Compliance Oversight
- Act as the store’s Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) and hold responsibility for alcohol sales.
Post Office Management (if applicable)
- Manage the Post Office Local branch in-store.
- Note: A background check (Post Office Financial + criminal) is required for this subset of roles.
Requirements
- Ability to lead, inspire, and support a team effectively.
- Commercial acumen with an emphasis on profitability and operational efficiency.
- Strong coaching, mentorship, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to health, safety, and compliance policies.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to improvement.
