One to One Teaching Assistant
One to One Teaching Assistant – Ormston School, Leeds
Are you ready to join a supportive and nurturing community that works together to achieve the very best outcomes for young people? Ormston School, part of Polaris Education, is seeking a one-to-one Teaching Assistant to support KS2, KS3, and KS4 pupils within its Secondary classes.
About the Role
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term – Full-Time, Term Time Only
- Salary: £21,257.48 – £23,232.69 per annum
- Location: Headingley, Leeds
- Start Date: ASAP or September 2026

Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one mentoring or support a small group of no more than six pupils
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and concerns, liaising with school staff to meet pupil needs
- Supervise pupils during extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Foster positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and productive learning
- Adapt resources to suit diverse learning needs

About the School
Located in Headingley, Leeds, Ormston School is a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils aged 5–18. Through recent investment and resources, the school fosters self-discipline, engagement, and aspiration, ensuring each pupil receives a personalised education that encourages achievement.
As part of the Polaris Community, the school is supported by twelve SEN(SEND) schools across the UK, all of which have been rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
Key Requirements
- A strong academic background, ideally up to A-Level standard
- Minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language & Mathematics
- Sound IT skills
- ** Previous experience** as a Teaching Assistant in a similar setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) in an educational environment
- Confidence in taking on additional responsibilities (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtime supervision, or school yoga)
- Proven behaviour management techniques
- Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check before employment
