At The Nelson Trust, we are committed to delivering exceptional services that make a tangible difference in the lives of people. One Wales is an innovative service aimed at providing engagement, support, and diversion for Women and Young Adults (18-25) from the criminal justice system including at first contact within police custody.
The One Wales is a partnership between Nelson Trust, Media Academy Cymru, PACT, St Giles, and BtheChange, dedicated to reducing reoffending and diverting people into appropriate support at the earliest opportunity.
This is a rewarding role where you will work in a gender-responsive and trauma-informed way, helping women to address areas such as housing, substance misuse, health, finance, previous trauma, children and families, and education, training, and employment.
What you will do:
- Provide 1:1 practical and emotional support to women
- Hold a caseload of women accessing the service through community orders or resettlement from prison
- Complete assessments and develop strength-based action plans
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Probation, HMP Eastwood Park, housing providers, social services, substance misuse services, and health services
- Provide outreach support to improve accessibility and engagement
- Attend multi-agency meetings and advocate for women where appropriate
- Facilitate group interventions where required
- Maintain clear and accurate case records
- Work in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, and information-sharing requirements

What we are looking for:
- Someone who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting women with multiple and complex needs.
- Knowledge of women’s multiple and complex needs, such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, trauma, housing issues, or contact with the criminal justice system
- A trauma-informed and holistic approach
- The ability to build trusting relationships with women who may find it difficult to access services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage and prioritize a caseload
- Good computer literacy and administrative skills
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and diversity
- A willingness to reflect on practice and continue developing professionally
- Experience of working with women with multiple and complex needs, developing local partnerships, completing needs assessments, or creating tailored support plans would be desirable.
You will need to have a valid full driving license with full access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across Cwm Taf.
