At Evodia Limited, we're proud to partner with a leading Defence organisation to recruit a highly experienced One Way Effector (OWE) Lead Engineer for an exciting contract opportunity in Bristol.

If you're an engineering leader with a solid background in complex weapons development and integration, and hold SC clearance, this could be the role for you.

Why this role might be right for you

This position offers a unique chance to drive crucial aviation and weapons integration projects, working closely with key stakeholders including airworthiness authorities and technical teams. Based in Bristol with the flexibility of hybrid working (2-3 days onsite), you'll manage forward-looking engineering plans and lead technical testing and validation activities on cutting-edge weapon systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the generation and execution of the engineering management plan, focusing on aviation aspects for the Urgent One Way Effector capability.
  • Managing the development of technical requirements and overseeing the test, verification, and evaluation processes.
  • Formulating the engineering roadmap for future phases of the project and ensuring technical data provided by suppliers meets quality standards.
  • Providing expert advice to senior leaders, including the Chief Engineer and Safety authorities, on technical matters.
  • Ensuring supplier testing is compliant with aviation regulations and safe to execute.
  • Identifying and analysing technical hazards, contributing to safety artefacts that enable testing and delivery.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to integrate project interests and assure compliance with relevant standards.

What we are looking for in you

Essential experience:

  • Proven engineering manager with experience managing development and integration of novel systems.
  • Track record in managing complex weapons development and test programmes.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations and working with regulators.
  • Hands-on experience with test, trials, and experimentation programmes.

  • Location: Bristol (Hybrid options available)
  • Contract length: Until 31 March 2027 (with scope to extend)
  • Day rate: Up to £570 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Security clearance: SC required
