Online Adult Counsellor
Counsellor – Adults (Remote, UK-based)
Reports to: Team Manager Location: Remote (must be UK-based) Contract: Full-time (30 hours per week) Working Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Rota system: 4-hour or 6-hour shifts, evenings & weekends

Role Overview
You will offer text-based online counselling and emotional wellbeing support to adults, using structured therapeutic interventions aligned with the iRespond clinical and operational model.
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Counselling
- Deliver text-based digital counselling, psychotherapy, support, and advice to adults.
- Conduct risk and needs assessments for each service user.
- Signpost and refer adults to appropriate resources as required.
- Manage a therapeutic caseload, providing short-to-mid-term structured interventions for:
- General emotional and mental health concerns.
- Complex mental health difficulties.
- Work within ethical frameworks (BACP or equivalent registrations).
- Ensure adherence to legal, safeguarding, and data protection requirements.
Clinical Administration
- Maintain accurate, confidential case notes using Kooth’s approved systems.
- Liaise with internal/external professionals regarding safeguarding concerns.
- Log shift duties and activities via Kooth’s scheduling and rota system.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional qualification in Counselling (Level 4 minimum) recognised by: BACP, UKCP, NCS, or equivalent.
- Registered with:
- BACP (MBACPregistered)
- Or equivalent registration (NCS, UKCP, COSCA).
- Minimum 450 hours of supervised clinical practice.
- 3+ years’ post-qualifying experience as a clinically supervised qualified counsellor/psychotherapist in adult (18+) mental health support.
- Experience with:
- Text-based counselling (digital/distant).
- Risk assessment, referral management, and crisis/support planning. Adult safeguarding (including knowledge of relevant policies/legislation).
- Demonstrated ability to provide engaging, evidence-based therapeutic support across diverse needs/client groups.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Proficient in remote working, technology, and secure digital communication.
- Excellent time management, administrative, and communication skills for managing caseloads via remote platforms.
- Shifts available (4/6 hours) covering afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- A deep understanding of mental health, psychology, and challenging life circumstances.
- Empathy, resilience, and 'can-do' attitude to support clients through distress.
