Online Assistant
Online Assistant – Working in Our Stores
Our stores are fast-paced environments where no two days are ever the same. They are at the heart of the local community, providing outstanding value, quality, and great service.
As one of our Online Assistants, you’ll play a key role in supporting our online customers, ensuring they receive the best shopping experience with Sainsbury’s.
Key Responsibilities
As an Online Assistant, you’ll:
- Pick and select the highest quality products on the shop floor for online orders, preparing them for delivery.
- Offer brilliant substitutions when items are out of stock.
- Use a handheld device to plan efficient routes through the store, tracking precise pick times.
- Work behind the scenes by assisting with:
- Customer queries and order processing
- Loading vans for our Home Delivery Drivers
- Continuously support customers with friendly service and proactive assistance.
- Develop excellent product knowledge to provide tailored recommendations.
- Work flexibly across different store areas as required.
Essential Requirements
Before applying, check you meet the following criteria:
- You must be past the school-leaving age in your country (age requirements vary by jurisdiction). For shifts starting before 6am or after 11pm, you must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK.
- Must be comfortable with:
- Early starts (most shifts begin at 4am)
- Fast-paced, physical, and high-energy environments (working independently as well as in teams)
- Performing tasks without direct supervision, showing initiative.
- Flexibility in cross-store assignments.
