About the Role
Ocean Infinity is pioneering the future of marine operations with advanced technology and remote capabilities. As we expand our state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre in Southampton, we’re looking for an Onshore Senior Surveyor to lead survey shifts and act as the operational survey expertise for our growing team.
This is a full-time onshore position based in Southampton and will require the successful applicants to be based within a commutable distance.
What you’ll do
- Lead survey operations within a senior online survey capacity in our operations centre, acting as the online lead for project and/or survey operations main escalation point for technical and operational issues.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and daily syncs to align the team on priorities, vessel status, and client requirements.
- Support the Online Survey Lead and Technical Authority Survey with oversight of vessel status and dynamically operational requirements.
- Provide oversight to surveyors and technical tools.
- Ensure all survey equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly, including geodesy setup and USBL verification.
- Troubleshoot complex survey software integration issues and resolve technical anomalies.
- Review and validate logs, handover notes, and incident documentation.
- Ensure client specification alignment and adherence to data quality standards.
- Conduct final sign-off on Daily Progress Reports, line planning changes, and shift handovers.
- Monitor real-time data acquisition, perform QA/QC checks, and escalate anomalies as required.
- Liaise with other technical leads (Data Processing, Geophysics, CAD/GIS) to ensure integrated workflows and smooth project delivery.
- Assist the Online Survey Lead, Technical Authority Survey and Project Managers in compiling and QC of project manuals.
- Document any offshore deviation, change and/or variation from the scope of work;
- Handle contact with software/hardware manufacturers.

Who you are
- 5+ years’ experience in offshore survey.
- Degree in Geomatics, Hydrographic Surveying, Geodetic Surveying, or similar.
- Experience in calibration and verification of survey sensors for surface and subsea positioning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
- Ability to take ownership and engage proactively in your work.
- Trusted survey operational advisor to internal/external stakeholders, with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong interpersonal, people management, and communication skills.
- Open to new ideas and adaptable to changing requirements.
- Proficient with office tools (MS Office, Teams, etc.).
- Able to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable
- Previous experience as a Senior Surveyor with strong technical and communication skills.
Salary
- Up to £80,000 per annum
- Night Shift / Overtime Uplift: Additional uplift applies for night shifts up to 10%
Relocation
- We are seeking candidates who are based in Southampton or the surrounding area, or who are willing to relocate from elsewhere in the UK.
- Limited short-term rotational support may be provided during the transition period; however, this will be restricted to accommodation only.
- We offer up to £5,000 in relocation expenses, which are reimbursable after your start date.
Shift Patterns
- 2 weeks ON / 2 weeks OFF rotation within the ROC.
- Rotating 8-hour on shifts (day, night, weekends), with 16-hours off shift to support 24/7 survey operations.
- Senior Surveyors' shift management includes pre-shift briefings, managing real-time priorities, and acting as the escalation point for technical and operational issues.
