Role: General Site Manager (CAT A - HDVC 2 GW) (Civils)

IR35: Outside

Overview:

Minster Converter Station - Land North West of Weatherlees Hill

Wastewater Treatment Works, access from A256 Richborough Way

Nearest post code CT12 5DL

Civil Site management experience

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, control, coordinate and manage day to day operations safely and efficiently on large (2GW+) HVDC projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate Site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • The overall owner of the full site throughout all lifecycles and accountable for Health, Safety, Wellbeing of all employees whilst on site.
  • Main contact for the off-site SE Project Director, and external clients teams.
  • Drive standards of compliance and own direct and indirect actions from others.
  • Drive programme requirements in line with contract programme, coordinate multiple internal and supply chain contractors to ensure compliance with HSEQ, Programme, Budget.
  • Overall Management of HDVC site activities, workforce, and subcontractors in line with programme requirements, UK legislation, SE standards and implement best practice.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, safety, quality across all site activities.
  • Project Milestones achieved in line with quality and schedule expectations.
  • Schedule working week to ensure all employees and client are consulted and informed with planned programme activities, contingencies, arrangements and overall authority to stop any works should it be required.
  • Report to the Head of General Site Management (either Head of UK or Head of Global). Produce a weekly report to report on statistics, Programme and progress/planned activities.
  • Provide direction and lead Site Managers (all disciplines), Supervisors, engineers, EHS personal and admin staff to collectively succeed in the delivery of the overall project.

Experience

  • A seasoned Snr Construction Manager, Superintendent, Operations Manager, Snr General Foreman, or Project Director.
  • A history working across multidiscipline large projects, leading a site team in excess of 200+ employees.
  • From a Tier 1 Main Contracting background, within the UK, where the individual will be known to UK law, legislation and standards.
  • A solid background in either Civil Engineering (or similar), to exercise the technical aspect of an HVDC project.
  • Solid understanding of Main Contracting policies and procedures.
  • Minimum of 10+ years working in similar role.

  • CSCS Card / CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • A61 Appointed Persons
  • ONC / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • HSG47
  • TWC / TWS
  • Manual Handling
  • Working at Height
  • Fire safety awareness
  • IPAF awareness
  • First Aid
  • Fully familiar with IT tools

Client specific (NG for example only)

  • SSE, Scottish Power / NG Person BESC etc.
  • NG Competent Person NSI6.
  • NG Competent Person NSI8.
