Onsite Technician Role at Thermal Vision Ecology

Leveraging deep technical knowledge and field experience, Thermal Vision Ecology supports ecological projects that require accurate, reliable thermal data. Team members collaborate closely with research and conservation professionals to deliver tools that enhance ecological monitoring and decision-making.


The Role: Onsite Technician

This is a seasonal part-time role supporting the deployment and operation of thermal imaging solutions in ecological field settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and configure FLIR and related thermal imaging equipment, ensuring it is ready for field deployment.
  • Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting procedures for onsite teams.
  • Guide teams through setup, calibration, and operational procedures of the equipment.
  • Coordinate with ecologists and project managers to align equipment performance with project requirements.
  • Document system configurations, and incident reports while providing clear technical guidance and training to end-users.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, ensuring adherence to safety, data integrity, and environmental best practices.
  • Regularly communicate with internal teams regarding equipment status and improvements.

Suitability Qualifications & Experience

  • Background or strong interest in:

    • Ecology
    • Environmental science
    • Related scientific or conservation fields
  • Experience advantage:

    • Supporting research or conservation projects
    • Configuring, operating, or troubleshooting imaging or sensor equipment (FLIR thermal cameras are ideal, but not essential)
    • Working in remote technical support, diagnostics, and incident documentation (in field or laboratory environments)
