We’re searching for an enthusiastic, team-orientated OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at New Priory Vets on a part-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated PETS out-of-hours service at our flagship hospital in central Brighton, where we deliver continuity of care for our patients and support local clinics overnight.

Our Brighton hospital delivers a full range of first-opinion services, including:

  • Medicine
  • Surgery
  • CT scans
  • Ultrasound
  • Radiography
  • Dentistry
  • Nurse clinics Plus the added support of on-site referral specialists.

Here, you’ll work alongside a collaborative team committed to delivering outstanding patient and client care.

You’ll collaborate closely with veterinary surgeons and the wider team, handling responsibilities such as:

  • Managing nursing care for first-opinion cases
  • Contributing to clinical standards
  • Supporting patient care development within the practice.

Working Pattern

  • 33 hours per week
  • Night shifts on a rolling rota:
    • 4:30 PM – 1 AM
    • 10 PM – 9 AM

General Responsibilities

  • Work alone in charge during night shifts, managing cases independently.
  • Oversee routine and complex surgeries.
  • Handle emergency and critical care.

Who You Are

We’re seeking a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who:

  • Thrives in a team environment and values high standards of care.
  • Has the following qualifications and experience:
    • Registration with the RCVS as a Veterinary Nurse
    • Experience in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
    • Organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
    • A proactive attitude toward learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.
    • Experience in emergency care.
    • Ability to work sole charge.

Salary: Up to £36,250 per annum, depending on experience.
