We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Weekend Veterinary Patient Care Assistant at MiNightVet Middlesbrough.
This is a weekend only role, working 1 in 2 weekend days, including 4 bank holidays per year - hours will alter between 8am-7pm and 10am-9pm. This role will be on an annualised hours contract.

About MiNightVet Middlesbrough
MiNightVet Middlesbrough is a dedicated small animal emergency and out-of-hours veterinary service, providing overnight and weekend care for a wide range of patients including dogs, cats, and small mammals. Based in Middlesbrough and working in partnership with local daytime practices, the clinic delivers high-quality urgent and critical care when regular surgeries are closed.
Equipped with modern facilities such as on-site diagnostics, imaging, and hospitalisation, the service is staffed by experienced vets, nurses and patient care assistance with a strong focus on emergency medicine and patient care. As part of CVS Group, the team is committed to compassionate, professional support for both pets and their owners during often challenging situations.

About The Role
The Veterinary Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a VCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients.
Some Of The Duties Will Include
- Nursing care to patients
- Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
- Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
- Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
- General cleaning and maintenance duties
- Running internal lab samples
- Answering emergency calls
- Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments
Who We're Looking For
- An excellent communicator with strong empathy
- Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
- Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
- Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
- A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
- Experience in caring for animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
