This role has a starting salary of £13.79 per hour, plus an additional £2.06 per hour annual leave allowance (£15.85 per hour total).

We are excited to be hiring new Open Water Lifeguards on a bank hours contract to join the fantastic Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) team.

Our Open Water swimming sessions take place at the Thames Young Mariners centre in Ham, near Richmond / Kingston, Surrey. TW10 7RX.

Sessions take place on weekday evenings from 4.30pm - 8.30pm and weekend mornings 7.30am - 11.30am, so hours of work will be scheduled around these times. Days of the week vary depending on the tide.

Would you like a flexible role working with a dedicated team who love to deliver safe swimming sessions to the general public at our beautiful site at Thames Young Mariners in Ham? We are seeking an enthusiastic team to deliver and run safe open water swimming sessions at our tidal lake next to the River Thames.

  • Setting up sessions
  • Registration
  • Session safety

Other potential opportunities at the site may also be available pending training and skills set.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

  • Holder of a National Governing Body (NGB) qualification which could include: RLSS Lifeguard Qualification (Pool, Beach or Open Water), Aquatic Safety Qualification, RLSS NPLQ Pool Lifeguard
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Knowledge of outdoor learning and its benefits

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s Barred List check will be required for this role.
