OpenShift Engineer **Fully Remote**
OpenShift Engineer – Contract Role (Fully Remote, INSIDE IR35)
About the Role
We are working with one of our largest UK clients to onboard multiple OpenShift Platform Engineers to join their team on a contract basis. This role focuses on the engineering, support, and optimisation of their enterprise OpenShift platform.
The ideal candidate should be:
- Hands-on and technically strong
- Proactive with a DevOps mindset
- Committed to improving platform reliability, performance, and user experience
This is a 6-month rolling contract based in Edinburgh, UK, operating fully remotely under INSIDE IR35.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage and support Red Hat OpenShift clusters
- Provide day-to-day operational support, engineering, and design for the OpenShift platform
- Implement and enhance automation processes
- Maintain and improve platform reliability, observability, and resilience using SRE principles
- Contribute to incident, problem, and change management processes following regulated standards

Key Skills & Requirements
Must-Have:
✔ Proven experience managing OpenShift platforms ✔ Experience with VMware/virtualised infrastructure ✔ Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform ✔ Competence in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Bash, Go, etc.) ✔ Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (Jenkins, Tekton, Argo Workflows)
Nice-to-Have:
✔ Exposure to SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles ✔ Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Loki) ✔ Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments ✔ Knowledge of security best practices in container platforms (RBAC, PodSecurityPolicies, OPA) ✔ Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
