Role Overview
As an OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating containerised platforms that enable scalable, resilient, and secure solutions. Working on complex, high-impact programmes, you will help drive innovation through cloud-native technologies and automation. You'll take ownership of platform engineering activities, contribute creative solutions to technical challenges, and collaborate within a supportive environment that enables continuous growth and meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage OpenShift-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across containerised environments
- Take ownership of platform reliability, leveraging automation and infrastructure-as-code to deliver consistent and efficient deployments aligned with business and technical requirements
- Collaborate closely with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD integration and evolving application needs
- Contribute innovative approaches to platform engineering, enhance automation practices, and ensure robust disaster recovery and continuity capabilities

Specific Duties
- Design & Manage OpenShift clusters and container platforms
- Automate & Streamline infrastructure using Ansible, OpenStack, and scripting
- Orchestrate & Maintain container workloads using Kubernetes
- Monitor & Optimise platform performance, capacity, and resilience
- Support & Integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Implement & Maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
- Collaborate & Align with cross-functional engineering teams
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Strong experience in container platform engineering, with hands-on expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation
- A proactive approach to platform reliability and a strong understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure within secure or enterprise environments
- Proven experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, OpenStack, Terraform)
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, backup, and disaster recovery
- Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous

Location and Clearance
This position will be based on site near Gloucester 5 days a week. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance.
