OpenShift Platform Engineer
OpenShift Platform Engineer – Contract Opportunity (6 Months) | Fully Remote (UK)
Join a high-performing platform engineering team within a leading financial services organisation, supporting a mission-critical OpenShift estate that underpins enterprise applications at scale.
We are looking for a hands-on OpenShift Platform Engineer with a strong operational background and an SRE mindset to help drive platform reliability, automation, and performance across a highly regulated environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale Red Hat OpenShift platform, partnering with infrastructure and application teams to deliver a resilient, secure, and high-availability container platform.
Location: Remote (UK-Based)
Contract Length: 6 Months
Contract Type: Inside IR35
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and supporting enterprise Red Hat OpenShift clusters running on x86 infrastructure.
- Driving platform reliability, resilience, observability, and operational excellence through SRE practices.
- Automating platform operations including provisioning, patching, scaling, and incident response using modern Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools.
- Supporting business-critical production environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Leading incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Collaborating with application, infrastructure, and security teams to onboard workloads and optimise platform usage.
- Troubleshooting complex issues across networking, storage, compute, containers, and platform services.
- Working closely with VMware infrastructure teams within large-scale virtualised environments.
- Ensuring compliance with security, audit, governance, and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience managing Red Hat OpenShift in enterprise production environments.
- Deep understanding of container technologies, Kubernetes platforms, and platform operations.
- Proven experience supporting critical services within financial services or other highly regulated sectors.
- Strong expertise in incident management, service recovery, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with VMware vSphere and virtualised infrastructure.
- Automation expertise with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, or Go.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, storage, platform performance, and container orchestration.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Highly Desirable
- Experience implementing SRE frameworks including SLIs, SLOs, observability, and error budgets.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging platforms.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments.
- Understanding of container security best practices.
- Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, OpenShift) advantageous.
