Solution Architect - OpenStack
6-Month Initial Contract | Inside IR35
Hybrid - 1-2 Days Per Week On Site (flexibility depending on your location)
We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect with deep OpenStack expertise to lead the design and delivery of a greenfield private cloud platform. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in building an enterprise-scale OpenStack environment from the ground up. You'll combine architecture leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, working closely with technical teams to deliver a highly available, secure-by-design, self-service cloud platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect a production-ready OpenStack environment from scratch.
- Define the target architecture and technical roadmap.
- Challenge existing technical approaches and introduce industry best practice.
- Work alongside engineering teams through design, build, deployment and support.
- Deliver a highly available, resilient and scalable private cloud platform.
- Embed Secure by Design principles throughout the solution.
- Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Produce architecture documentation, standards and technical designs.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise OpenStack environments.
- Strong infrastructure engineering background.
- Experience building OpenStack platforms from greenfield.
- Linux systems engineering.
- High Availability (HA) and resilient infrastructure design.
- Networking, storage and virtualisation expertise.
- Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and/or Terraform.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
