The Opportunity: Operational Buyer

Reporting into the Supply Chain Planning Manager EMEA, you will be an integral part of the tight-knit Supply Chain team with full accountability for operational and administrative duties. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our supply chain operations and ensuring efficiency within our processes.

You will build great relationships with internal and external customers and play a big part in ensuring great quality goods are purchased in the right quantities, at the right time and at a great price. You will be a confident user of Excel and comfortable getting to grips with ESG systems.

You will be a confident, detail-oriented and organised individual, with a drive to succeed, even when the pressure is on!

Key Responsibilities

  • Order placement (for low level spend) using ESG systems.
  • Updating all purchase order due dates accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Checking inbound freight invoices values against quotes, ensuring paperwork is all correct and archived appropriately.
  • General administrative duties.
  • Producing / assisting with weekly/monthly reports, e.g. availability report, cost saving tracker, inventory projection, forecasting etc.
  • General chasing / follow up on any non-conformances with suppliers.
  • Communicating with suppliers using a range of methods including face-to-face, email, telephone, Zoom etc.
  • Building great relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic files for each supplier and create part numbers accordingly.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Be a competent user of MS Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Have previous experience of automated ordering systems.
  • Be able to build good working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Be resilient with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Have strong organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail in every task undertaken.
  • Be able to work well within a team and independently.
  • Be proactive, creative and willing to challenge if you don’t agree.
  • 9 GCSE’s grade 4 or above.

Desirable

  • Previous Supply Chain experience/Purchasing department experience
  • Previous experience buying commodities
  • Second language (European / Chinese) would be advantageous.
