Operational Data Improvement Manager – Claims Insight & Performance
About the Role
As part of our UK strategy, we are recruiting Operational Data Improvement Managers to join the Claims Insight & Performance team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and embed data science and analytics capabilities across Claims, delivering sustained, trusted, and measurable operational value.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring data science models and robotic processes are applied effectively within Claims operations, translating business needs into analytical use cases. This role will focus on embedding well-governed analytics and data science capabilities to strengthen data-driven decision-making, improve customer outcomes, and foster a robust data culture within agreed risk and control frameworks.
Reporting to the Head of Claims Data Improvement and Culture, the Operational Data Improvement Manager will partner with data science teams to embed analytics within Claims processes. Successfully applied models must be understood, adopted, and integrated into daily operations.
High impact opportunity: Transform advanced analytics into real-time operational advantage.
Available locations: Guildford, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, London, or Bournemouth. Hybrid working arrangement: 2 minimum office days per week.
Salary: £56,000 per annum (obligatory). Salary determinants include experience, skill set, and location. Offers total reward beyond its monetary value.
About You
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Own the lifecycle of machine learning models, robotics, and analytics in Claims, from use case definition and prioritisation through to deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Collaborate with data science teams, translating Claims objectives into clear problem statements, success metrics, and operational constraints.
- Ensure models are production-ready, aligned with Claims processes, decision frameworks, and technological environments.
- Oversee ongoing model performance, addressing data drift, bias, quality issues, and operational misuse.
- Integrate model outputs into Claims decision-making, ensuring recommendations and thresholds are well-understood by teams.
- Champion data literacy and adoption, fostering understanding of data science and analytics' importance in Claims operations.
- Balance innovation, risk, and control, assessing mitigations for model, data, conduct, and regulatory risks.
- Support governance and assurance, including documentation, explainability, controls, and audit readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying enhancements to data, features, or processes that elevate model effectiveness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
