Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine.

Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

Where you’ll be working?

BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.

What you'll be doing?

The Operational Procurement Manager leads operational procurement activities, ensuring effective process control, supplier performance, and compliance with procurement policies and preferred supplier frameworks. The role drives cost avoidance, supply chain rationalisation, catalogue adoption, and improvements in purchasing behaviours while maintaining governance over P-card spend and master data integrity. Responsibilities include managing Buying Desk performance, resolving procurement issues, supporting supplier onboarding, reducing invoices on hold, and providing procurement support for bids and mobilisations. Working closely with stakeholders, Group Procurement, and suppliers, the role uses data-driven insights to improve performance, strengthen supplier relationships, and deliver sustainable, commercially focused procurement outcomes.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to India once per year, as this is a mandatory aspect of the role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
