Operational Resilience Analyst

Head of Operational Resilience --- transforming financial resilience safeguarding business continuity

Purpose of the Role

To develop, implement, and maintain an effective resilience strategy and Operational Recovery Planning and Incident Management framework, in line with industry-leading standards, controls, and regulatory expectations. The role ensures the bank can respond to severe but plausible scenarios, minimising impacts on:

  • Customers and clients
  • Colleagues
  • Wider markets

Accountabilities

  • Socialisation & Implementation

    • Drive alignment and compliance with resilience standards and control frameworks across the firm.
    • Engage with Senior Management Representatives (SMRs), delegates, business/resilience role owners, and all colleagues.
  • Framework Enhancement

    • Continually evolve resilience, crisis, and incident management frameworks.
    • Strengthen recovery and response capabilities for Important Business Services during disruptive events.
    • Tightly integrate Operational Recovery Planning and Security Incident Management standards with industry best practices, emerging threats, and regulatory updates.
  • Oversight & Improvement

    • Lead recovery capability improvements for business and technology operations.
    • Uplift third-party (suppliers and Financial Market Infrastructure) recovery plans to maintain service within impact tolerance thresholds.
  • Transparency & Governance

    • Communicate the firm’s resilience posture (risks/remediation) via transparent scorecards/dashboards.
    • Ensure Board Executive Committees, Control Forums, and stakeholders make informed investment decisions.

  • Testing & Assurance

    • Drive sophisticated, regular, and comprehensive testing to demonstrate Important Business Services’ ability to recover within impact tolerance thresholds.
    • Verify that confident change (NAPAs, DRAs) integrates resilience principles.
  • Regulatory & Market Awareness

    • Stay current with regulatory policy shifts, emerging threats, and evolving resilience/Crisis and Incident Management trends.
  • Incident Mitigation & Resolution

    • Demonstrate rapid response to unexpected disruptive incidents through root cause analysis and coordinated recovery.
    • Document and disseminate lessons learned to prevent future occurrences.
  • Technical/Incident Coordination

    • Prioritise responses to high-impact incidents (e.g., email, phone, monitoring alerts).
    • Provide input on threat intelligence to drive proactive controls.

Operational Resilience Analyst Role (Tesco Bank Team)

Location: Glasgow Campus / Edinburgh (South Gyle Crescent) Focus Areas:

  • Governance of resilience strategy and controls
  • Reporting, scenario testing, risk analysis, and control improvements
  • Collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., Operational Resilience managers, business areas)

Key Requirements:

✔ Essential skills:

  • Depth of knowledge in operational resilience, recovery planning, and regulatory expectations (e.g., UK Financial Conduct Authority standards).
  • Strong risk management and control framework understanding within a highly regulated environment.
  • Analytical proficiency: Data interpretation, identifying trends, and providing strategic insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration (business/IT teams).
