Job Summary
Operational resilience is about more than responding to disruption, it's about ensuring customers, colleagues and critical business services continue to operate when it matters most.
As our Operational Resilience Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping and embedding NHBC's operational resilience framework, helping the organisation prepare for, respond to and recover from disruption. Working closely with the CISO and senior stakeholders across the business, you'll ensure resilience is embedded into day-to-day operations, strategic change and decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence organisational resilience at an enterprise level, working across technology, operations and business functions to strengthen our ability to protect the services that matter most.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll lead the continued development and maturity of NHBC's operational resilience capability by:
- Managing and continuously improving our operational resilience framework, ensuring it remains proportionate, effective and aligned with PRA, FCA and industry best practice.
- Identifying, mapping and maintaining NHBC's important business services, including impact tolerances, critical dependencies and end-to-end service mapping.
- Developing and embedding business continuity, crisis management and resilience processes across the organisation.
- Working with service owners and business teams to identify operational risks, control weaknesses and vulnerabilities, driving pragmatic improvements and first-line ownership.
- Leading resilience testing, scenario exercises and lessons learned activities to strengthen organisational preparedness and recovery.
- Supporting the response to significant operational disruptions and ensuring continuous improvement following incidents.
- Providing assurance over supplier and outsourcing resilience, including critical third parties, in line with regulatory expectations and exit planning requirements.
- Embedding resilience requirements into business operations, technology change, projects and service delivery.
- Producing meaningful resilience metrics, management information and reporting to support governance, audit and regulatory assurance.
- Acting as a trusted advisor, translating complex regulatory expectations into practical, business-focused resilience outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
