Operational Risk Analyst

Operational Risk Analyst - Opportunity to Grow in a Regulated Financial Services Environment

Overview

This role is well-suited for someone with a foundational understanding of operational risk who is eager to deepen their experience within a regulated financial services environment.

Key Accountabilities

Assist the Operational Risk Manager in delivering the following responsibilities:

Risk Framework Development

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the operational risk management framework

Internal Capital & Risk Processes

  • Assist with the Internal Capital Adequacy and Risk Assessment (ICARA) process, including:
    • Collection, validation, and analysis of risk data inputs
    • Risk identification, assessment, and documentation across business areas
    • Preparation of analysis for risk scenarios, harms, and operational resilience assessments

Risk Registers & Monitoring

  • Maintain and update risk registers, ensuring:
    • Risks are accurately recorded
    • Controls, actions, and ownership are tracked

Emerging Risk & Incident Analysis

  • Monitor and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and emerging risks
  • Support analysis of incidents, errors, breaches, and near misses, including:
    • Root cause analysis
    • Tracking of remediation actions

Third-Party & Outsourcing Risk

  • Assist in the oversight of third-party and outsourcing risk, including:
    • Conducting due diligence
    • Ongoing monitoring

Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Culture

  • Engage stakeholders across the organisation to promote:
    • Risk awareness
    • A strong risk culture

Regulatory & Audit Support

  • Provide analysis for regulatory, risk, and governance matters as required
  • Support the tracking and closure of internal audit actions

Background, Experience & Competencies Required

Candidates should have:

  • Previous experience in risk, compliance, audit, finance, or a control function
  • Exposure to a UK-regulated environment, ideally within financial services
  • Understanding of operational risk concepts, including:
    • Risk identification
    • Governance
    • Controls
    • Incidents
