Operational Support Coach
Service Delivery Coach – North Wales
Department Overview
Our Service Delivery contract with Openreach has grown from 10 engineers in 2011 to over 1,200 engineers across the UK mainland. We connect 25,000+ customers per week through appointments for:
- Copper Phone Line provision
- Managed Install Broadband provision
- FTTP and PCP-only provision
We support our field team through a network of Area Managers and Coaches to ensure engineers work safely and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
Job Objective
The Coach will provide one-to-one coaching based on a structured plan aligned with full MIS reports, supporting new engineers in their allocated area.
Key Objectives:
- Work with Service Delivery Operational teams to improve quality, safety, and customer experience in the network.
- Support rollouts of:
- In-field process changes
- New ways of working
- New equipment
- Re-assessments
- Licence revocation restoration

Key Responsibilities
General Duties
- Represent the department positively by adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Raise and follow up on non-conformance reports to ensure timely resolution.
Coaching & Development
- Provide high-quality, supportive coaching to enhance engineer safety, quality, and effectiveness.
- Maxिमise individual performance through feedback and skill development.
- Document coaching interventions and report progress to Management Team.
- Use the FPQS system for recording visits, issues, and resolutions.
Supporting Engineers
- Assist in onboarding and acclimating new engineers to field work and company standards.
- Train engineers on new products, procedures, and equipment.
- Deliver in-field or training-school coaching workshops as required.
- Conduct planned field assessments and accreditation programmes under direction.
Quality & Compliance
- Carry out engineer evaluations, monitoring, and on-the-day technical support.
- Perform retrospective quality checks under Operational Support Manager oversight.
- Ensure adherence to MJ Quinn Quality Standards, Company Handbook, and relevant policies:
- Data protection and security
- Cybersecurity
- Data access and handling
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Work safely and responsibly, upholding MJ Quinn’s "Safety Always Matters" principle.
- Ensure risk minimisation, proper RAMS (Risk Assessments), PPE compliance, and documentation.
- Act as a leader by example and report safety incidents immediately.
