Operational Systems Support Consultant
Infrastructure Manager (Operational Systems Support Consultant Tooling and Monitoring)
Location: Corsham (Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site)
Security Clearance: DV (or DV eligible)
Sector: Public Sector / Defence
We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Manager /Operational Systems Support Consultant to join a high-performing Hosting and Tooling team, supporting a major public sector client within a secure environment.
This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in enterprise monitoring, event management, and operational tooling, who enjoys working across both BAU support and project-based delivery.
The Role
As part of the Hosting and Tooling function, you will contribute to both operational (RUN) and project activities, supporting critical infrastructure and tooling platforms across complex environments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and maintaining enterprise monitoring and tooling platforms
- Working directly with client teams to provide guidance and technical support
- Creating and improving event management policies for internal services and client-facing solutions
- Undertaking functional system analysis to support operational requirements
- Installing, configuring and customising tooling products
- Deploying and managing agents across secure estates
- Supporting project workstreams and collaborating with internal and external Project Managers
- Producing technical documentation and architectural drawings
- Building dashboards and operational reporting to support service delivery
- Developing automation scripts to improve system integration and efficiency

Skills and Experience Required
To be successful in this role you will have strong experience supporting enterprise environments and monitoring platforms, ideally backed by relevant certifications.
Key skills include:
- Experience supporting tooling platforms such as BMC TrueSight, BMC Discovery and Splunk
- Strong knowledge of agent deployment and management
- Product installation, configuration and customisation
- Experience with SNMP and MIB management
- Strong experience working across Windows, Linux and AIX environments
- Scripting experience with Python and PowerShell
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, Tivoli Netcool
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols
- Experience integrating systems using automation and APIs (REST)

Working Pattern
This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in Corsham, with the remaining time worked remotely depending on project and operational requirements.
