The NHS Resolution Claims Management function
The NHS Resolution Claims Management function has embarked on the next phase of transformation and expansion with a vision to deliver a single, integrated claims function, with a supportive organisational structure that avoids duplication of effort and allows teams to develop their skills.
The claims teams manage claims emanating from former PCTs and Strategic Health Authorities, which transferred to the Secretary of State. The claims teams work in an interesting and dynamic climate, all contributing to a continually improving claims service.
The opportunity
This is a key strategic role within the Claims function, providing operational leadership and management of a dedicated team. You will ensure high-quality claims handling and support the delivery of our Business Plan, while leading and developing team members. In addition, you will contribute to future improvements and participate in external strategic liaison meetings to ensure claims are managed safely and effectively in line with our organisational strategy. This opportunity is available on a secondment basis, for a duration of 4-6 months with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality operational services.
- Monitoring performance, provide coaching, and supporting staff development.
- Monitor performance and implement improvements to meet KPIs.
- Ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and enhance service delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- Exceptional knowledge and experience in operational and people management.
- Proven experience in handling complex personal injury and/or clinical negligence claims to a successful conclusion, and managing a complex caseload while achieving set targets.
- Ability to explain highly complex issues clearly and overcome barriers to understanding.
- Demonstrable evidence of planning and organising a broad range of complex activities and service management strategies, with flexibility to adjust plans as service and customer needs change.
- Experience in developing and monitoring procedures and processes.
- Relevant qualifications in insurance, legal, clinical, medical claims, or people and operational management.
- Understanding of NHS Resolution’s business, strategic objectives, philosophy, and PEER values.
- Excellent communication skills, including composing complex correspondence and legal documentation (written skills will be assessed as part of the application).
