Senior OT Cyber Security Consultant – Energy Sector

About the Opportunity

Amentum is expanding its OT (Operational Technology) Cyber Security Consulting Team in Scotland, seeking commercially minded consultants who can:

  • Take ownership of client engagements
  • Solve practical problems in OT cyber security
  • Build lasting client relationships

This role is Energy sector-focused, with potential to expand into Critical National Infrastructure, National Security, Defence, and Nuclear. You will support clients in IT and OT environments, helping them:

  • Understand cyber risk
  • Improve resilience
  • Deliver secure change with technical credibility and commercial insight

This is a delivery-focused consulting role where success comes from:

  • Moving initiatives forward with minimal supervision
  • Balancing technical expertise with strong client management skills
  • Communicating complex ideas in clear, practical ways

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, you will:

  • Lead OT cyber security assignments, covering scope, outputs, timelines, and client expectations
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, offering expert advisory on OT security and resilience
  • Conduct cyber risk assessments across OT and IT environments, producing actionable recommendations
  • Design security requirements, architectures, and approaches for complex OT systems/programmes
  • Support accreditations, compliance, and regulatory activities, leveraging frameworks like:
    • NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF)
    • IEC 62443 (OT security standards)
    • ISO 27001 (Information Security Management)
    • NIST CSF (Cybersecurity Framework)
  • Prepare client-ready deliverables, including assessments, reports, roadmaps, requirements, and proposals
  • Contribute to account growth by identifying opportunities, shaping bids, and expanding client relationships
  • Collaborate across Amentum teams while operating independently with confidence

Requirements

Must Have:

  • Proven experience in cyber security consulting, security engineering, assurance, or OT risk assessment, ideally with a focus on Operational Technology (OT), critical infrastructure, or industrial control systems.
  • Deep understanding of OT environments, including operational safety, resilience, and availability considerations.
  • Practical knowledge of:
    • Cyber risk and threat assessment methodologies
    • Relevant standards/frameworks:
      • IEC 62443
      • NCSC CAF
      • ISO 27001
      • NIST CSF
      • NIS Regulations (Network and Information Systems)
    • Common OT/IT security technologies, protocols, and security architectures
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision, making judgements independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate technical details into commercial, practical Language
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements

Nice-to-Have Across Energy/Critical Infrastructure Sector:

  • Experience in the Energy sector, Ofgem price control submissions, or cyber resilience plans
  • Knowledge of IEC 62351 (cybersecurity for industrial communication), IEC 61850, or IEC 60870-5-104
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GICSP or similar (OCSEP or DEV-SEC)
