Operational Technology Security Consultant (OT)

Operational Technology (OT) / Cyber Security Consultant

Location: London, Bristol, Manchester, Belfast or Melbourn (Hertfordshire) Salary: £45,000 - £105,000 + excellent benefits Level: Consultant, Senior Consultant & Principal Consultant Type: Hybrid (client site, office or remote)

As demand for Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security grows, they are expanding their specialist Cyber Security practice and seeking talented consultants from Consultant to Principal Consultant levels.


Role Overview

Join a highly regarded OT Cyber Security team and help organisations protect the operational technology that underpins critical national infrastructure. You’ll work on diverse client engagements, advising on the security of:

  • Industrial control systems
  • Operational technology environments
  • Connected infrastructure

Responsibilities vary by level:

  • Deliver technical assessments
  • Design secure OT architectures
  • Lead client engagements
  • Develop cyber security strategies
  • Support large-scale digital transformation programmes

Senior and Principal Consultants will also:

  • Lead project teams
  • Manage client relationships
  • Contribute to business development

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering OT and Industrial Control System (ICS) cyber security consulting engagements
  • Conducting:
    • OT cyber risk assessments
    • Security reviews
    • Maturity assessments
  • Advising clients on securing:
    • SCADA
    • PLCs
    • RTUs
    • Distributed Control System (DCS) environments
  • Designing:
    • Secure OT architectures
    • Network segmentation
    • Industrial security solutions
  • Supporting regulatory compliance and cyber security governance
  • Developing OT cyber security strategies and remediation roadmaps
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (cyber, engineering, digital transformation)
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Leading project delivery
  • Mentoring junior consultants (Senior/Principal levels)

What They’re Looking For

Ideal candidates come from IT or Operational Technology backgrounds with strong cyber security expertise. Open to:

  • Experienced consultants
  • Professionals transitioning from industry

Essential Experience:

  • OT,ICS, or Industrial Cyber Security
  • SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, DCS, or Process Control systems
  • OT security architecture, industrial networking, or security monitoring
  • Cyber risk management, security assessments, or governance
  • Industrial IoT (IIoT) technologies
  • Relevant standards:
    • IEC 62443
    • NIST CSF
    • ISO 27001
    • NCSC CAF
    • NIS Regulations
  • Experience in Critical National Infrastructure, including:
    • Energy & Utilities
    • Manufacturing
    • Transport
    • Water
    • Oil & Gas
    • Nuclear
    • Defence
  • Strong communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Consultancy experience is helpful but not mandatory. Open to transitions from industry.
