Operations Assistant

Requisition ID: 11724

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Assistant to join our North East account on a permanent basis, based at our Forfar Depot.

Our NMC NE account was awarded to us in August 2022 to support Transport Scotland. We will deliver improved levels of service to the trunk road network, aiming to ensure consistent, predictable and reliable journeys for road users. Works will cover maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures and discrete improvement schemes whilst considering the Scottish Government’s climate change and sustainability targets.

As an Operations Assistant, you will provide key support to the Forfar Operational Supervisor and the wider Operational Team, playing a vital role in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of highways operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide operational support to Highways Supervisors and the wider Operations Management team
  • Coordinate the hiring and off-hiring of plant, ensuring compliance and monitoring of hire equipment
  • Prepare and complete operational briefs and permits
  • Support winter maintenance activities, including accurate record keeping
  • Deputise for Supervisors when required
  • Maintain and update records within operational information systems
  • Assist with incident investigations
  • Prepare completed works information for Commercial teams
  • Support works planning, commissioning, and associated record keeping
  • Process and plan material orders and invoices
  • Ensure gangs accurately record works completed to allow correct client claims and ‘as built’ records
  • Arrange, process, and submit timesheets in a timely manner
  • Quantify and order materials, plant, and equipment in advance to support delivery
  • Arrange sub-contractors in conjunction with the Commercial team
  • Coordinate employee training in line with the training matrix
  • Support recruitment activities, including interviewing prospective employees

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
