Reporting to: Head of Hospitality Location: Worcestershire County Cricket Club, New Road, Worcester, WR2 4QQ Contract term: Full time, permanent (start date: as soon as possible)

Purpose of the Role

We seek a reliable, hardworking, and flexible Operations Assistant - Hospitality to support catering, hospitality, conferencing, and event operations in delivering high standards of service.

This involves:

  • Setting up and quickly turning around event spaces before/after functions
  • Ensuring areas are clean, safe, and presentable per event requirements
  • Assisting with porter duties, moving furniture, and maintaining high catering/hospitality standards

The role demands attention to detail, adaptability, and commitment to working flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and matchdays.


Key Responsibilities

Room Set-Ups and Event Preparation

  • Set up rooms and venues according to function sheets, event briefs, and manager instructions
  • Arrange tables, chairs, linens, staging, catering stations, and event furniture
  • Ensure spaces are clean, tidy, and ready for guests, clients, or members
  • Support room turnarounds between events, meetings, and matchday operations
  • Clear, return, and reset spaces after events
  • Verify equipment/furniture setups and report issues promptly
  • Collaborate with catering, events, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution
  • Assist with food/beverage movement, stock handling, and supply logistics
  • Support catering team operations, including preparation and back-of-house needs
  • Maintain hygiene, safety, and presentation standards

Matchday, Events, and Operational Support

  • Set up/break down hospitality areas, bars, lounges, lounges, meeting rooms, and catering venues
  • Handle deliveries, stock, and equipment transport across the site
  • Respond rapidly to managerial requests during high-pressure events
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, accessibility, and maintenance protocols
  • Provide general venue operations support

The role demands flexibility due to match schedules, events, and peak business periods. Expected availability includes:

  • Early mornings, late nights, weekends, bank holidays

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Prior experience in catering, events, hospitality, cleaning, facilities, or portering
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up furniture
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to flexible availability (including evenings and weekends)
  • Basic health & safety awareness

Desirable

  • Familiarity with sports venues, hotels, conference centres, or large events
  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards
  • Manual handling certification
  • Hands-on experience on busy matchdays or large-scale events

Key Note: Validity requires Right-to-Work certification. Visa sponsorship unavailable for this role.
