Location: Crewe (CW1) Responsible to: Operations Manager Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week Pay: £25,000-£28,000 Job type: Permanent, full-time

General Role Description

The Operations Assistant provides administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of daily business activities. This role involves coordinating processes, maintaining records, managing schedules, supporting projects, and liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the operations team.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of operational processes and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and filing systems.
  • Process documentation, reports, invoices, purchase orders, and operational paperwork.
  • Monitor stock levels and support inventory management activities where applicable.
  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, and logistics.
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for management.
  • Support the onboarding of new employees and maintain staff records.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to resolve operational issues.
  • Track projects and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support business operations.

  • Participate in audits, inspections, and management system reviews as required.

Health, Safety, and Wellbeing

  • Protect company assets, systems, and intellectual property from misuse or unauthorised access.

  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers, clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service and support achievement of customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Respond to enquiries and issues promptly and professionally.

Continuous Improvement

  • Actively contribute ideas to improve business performance, efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in training and development activities to maintain and improve competency.
  • Keep knowledge and skills up-to-date in relation to job requirements.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in an administrative, operations, or support role.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.

Desirable

  • Experience using business management systems.
  • Knowledge of operational processes and business administration.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
  • Business Administration qualification or relevant professional certification (desirable).

Additional Information

  • Full-time, office-based role.
  • Requirement to work from other offices (e.g., Doncaster) as/when required.
  • Standard working hours with occasional flexibility for business needs.
