Operations Associate

Location: Glasgow
Contract: 12 months
Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days in the office

Who You Will Work With

Our client is a global financial services firm that manages wealth, navigates complex markets, and design strategic financial objectives. The firm provides risk management solutions across a variety of sectors, emphasizing long-term relationships, and innovative approaches to financial challenges.

What You'll Do

  • Execute operational processes and support process management, ensuring efficient delivery across systems, markets and financial instruments.
  • Identify operational risks, recommend process improvements, and contribute to strengthening controls and operational efficiency.
  • Support operational tax activities, including tax processing, compliance, and the implementation of tax-related policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Analyse the impact of tax legislation changes and new business initiatives, preparing reports and communicating findings to senior management and global stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Tax, Operations and Business Units globally to implement and enhance operational tax processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to solution design, timely delivery and process optimisation through automation tools such as Power BI, UiPath, Alteryx and Generative AI.
  • Build strong relationships across global teams and stakeholders, sharing knowledge and collaborating effectively to deliver business objectives.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in financial operations, ideally within investment banking or another financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of operational processes, with knowledge of operational taxes, including withholding tax, capital gains tax, transactional tax and tax reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk management skills, with the ability to resolve non-standard issues independently.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise with a focus on maintaining robust controls while meeting business and client requirements.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and project delivery skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with process improvement and automation tools such as Power BI, UiPath, Alteryx and Generative AI would be advantageous.
